Culverts & Batters - Soil Stabilisation

During construction of embankment for roads or drainage construction projects, culverts and battered slopes can be subject to wind and water (rain) erosion particularly on steep angles prior to concreting and/or grassing. This is costly to repair and where our product, BATTER SOIL STABILISATION (BSS6), can assist.

Compared to untreated soil in a culvert or on batters up to 45 degrees slope our product can easily withstand 9 inches of rain in less than 10 minutes. BSS6 holds the soil tight while allowing water to pass without erosion of the surface. Similarly wind has no erosion effect when treated.

Dam Construction - Soil Stabilisation

Dam floor and wall stabilisation can be achieved by using DUSTDOWN in the surface of the dam materials to allow quicker access when applying liners and preventing erosion during construction. The DUSTDOWN allows the in-situ materials to remain firm even after rain. This in turn allows machinery to be driven over the surface without damaging the surface in time for vinyl liners to be placed.

The DUSTDOWN allows the in-situ materials to remain firm even after rain. This in turn allows machinery to be driven over the surface without damaging the surface in time for vinyl liners to be placed.

Furthermore, as it prevents water entering the in-situ materials, it prevents water induced erosion of the surface prior to lining the walls and hence reduces the cost of having to reform the even surface required. It also has the beneficial effect of sealing the soil under the liner in case a leak occurs.

Stockpiles - Dust Management

Controlling dust in large stockpiles of soil, ore, coal etc. is a major environmental health concern not to mention loss of stock. The effect of wind on these fine materials creates the air-borne movement of these dust particles that can cost companies significant dollars per year in claims and control measures, this issue is especially relevant around quarries and mine sites where dust particles may be of a toxic nature or create environmental nuisance to neighbours.

The effect of wind on these fine materials creates the air-borne movement of these dust particles that can cost companies significant dollars per year in claims and control measures, this issue is especially relevant around quarries and mine sites where dust particles may be of a toxic nature or create environmental nuisance to neighbours. For short term, the stock piles can be applied with WET IT DOWN which allows water to penetrate the surface and remain wetter for longer periods. This also reduces the need for applying large volumes of water which run from the base of the stockpile causing nuisance.

For longer term stockpiling our BATTER SOIL STABILISATION (BSS6) product will hold the surface from water and wind erosion (up to 100KM/Hr.) without regular watering.
